A site in Allier, France, with an assemblage of pottery, clay tablets, bricks, terra-cottas, and glass that has been claimed as evidence of civilization in France prior to Greek and Roman contact. These items have been dismissed as forgeries but some items tested by thermoluminescence indicate a date range of 700 BC-100 AD. The discrepancy between the archaeological and the scientific evidence has yet to be resolved.
