Site of a number of gravel pits in West Middlesex, England, with Lower Palaeolithic artifacts - from Clactonian tools to Acheulian bifaces and Levallois flakes and cores. It is dated to c 250,000-200,000 years ago. There are also Middle Palaeolithic / Mousterian levels with bout coupé-like bifaces. The sequence is one of the longest of its kind in Europe and in part closely parallels Swanscombe.
