City in the eastern Delta of Egypt dating from at least Middle Kingdom until the Roman period, c 2000 BC-200 AD. During the 19th and 20th Dynasties, the royal palace at Tell al-Yahudiyah was embellished with remarkable polychrome tiles, many of which bear figures of captive foreigners.
