Late Classic and Early Post-Classic fortified site in Morelos, Mexico, which benefited upon the collapse of Teotihuacán. The site is positioned to control access to the Balsas River drainage. A strong Teotihuacán influence is seen in the cylindrical tripod vases and obsidian objects. After the fall of Teotihuacán, however, the site shows evidence of new cultural influences: architecture in modified Talud-tablero style, a ball court, and Mayan friezes.

One of the earliest fortified sites of the Early Post-Classic and a likely beneficiary of the collapse of Teotihuacan (see also Cholula). Located on one of a string of hills in southern Morelos, Mexico, the site is positioned to control access to the Balsas River drainage. A strong Teotihuacan influence DIAN eccentrics) is evident in the site’s Classic Period occupation, at which time it was probably a satellite town of that great centre. After the fall of Teotihuacan, however, the site evidences a new complex of cultural influences. Architecture in modified talud-tablero style, a ball court and Mayan friezes characterize the centre’s new independence.
