Scottish antiquary who coined the word "prehistoric" in his book "The Archaeology and Prehistoric Annals of Scotland" (1851). He was the first to organize Scotland's artifacts according to the Three-Age System. He also wrote "Prehistoric Man: Researches into the Origin of Civilization in the Old and new World" (1862).
