A Mesolithic culture of southwest France that followed the Sauveterrian and which was characterized by the use of small stone tools with geometric shapes (trapeze-shaped chisel-ended arrowheads and small blades). Tardenoisian and similar industries are found from Iberia to central Europe and span the period from the early 6th millennium BC until the arrival of the first Neolithic farmers. Fère-en-Tardenois, in the Paris basin, is the type site of the Tardenoisian.
