A penal complex on the Tasman Peninsula, Australia, used from 1830-1877. Historical archaeologists have studied it extensively. The partially restored ruins of the penal colony, including a church built by convicts, and the spot called "Isle of the Dead" (with unmarked convict graves) are now tourist attractions.
