The precursor to the Iroquois culture in New York state, dated to c 1000-1300 AD. It is characterized by ceramics with cord-wrapped paddles, smoking pipes with straight stems, and the growing of corn, beans, and squash. Their elongated houses were ancestral to the Iroquois longhouse.
