A cave on the Mediterranean coast of Provence, France, which has yielded what may be the oldest tools in Europe. In sediments with fauna of Upper Villa-Franchian type were five pebble tools and four flakes. Both the animal bones and the tools suggest a correlation with the early part of the Olduvai sequence.
