[Itatsuke]. An early agricultural village site in Fukuoka, Japan. Rice paddies outlined with wooden boards, over 100 grains of charred rice, wooden hoes and semilunar stone harvesting-knives were associated with Final Jomon pottery of Yuusu type. Above them was another set of paddy fields associated with both Yuusu type pottery and the Yayoi pottery of Itazuke type. A number of pits located inside and outside a ditch enclosing an area of 100 by 82 metres are probably for storage. There are also Early Yayoi graves and Middle and Late Yayoi occupation levels. Other artefacts recovered from the site include spindle whorls and bronze weapons.
