[Sanskrit: "City of Indra’] (1). In Cambodia, Indrapura was the first capital of the future king Jayavarman II upon his return from Java before he founded the kingdom of Angkor in 802. It has not been identified with certainty, but corresponds probably to the site of Bunteay Prei Nokor, in the province of Thbong Khmum, to the east of Kompong Cham. (2). In Champa, the city of Indrapura, located in the present province of Quang-name, was the capital of the dynasty bearing the same name, founded by Indra-varman II in 875 and lasting to 986; the capital was then transferred to Vuaya, further south.
