Late Preclassic site of northern Petén, Guatemala, which was one of the earliest urban centers in the Maya Lowlands. El Mirador's architectural complex dwarfs that of Tikal, although El Mirador was only substantially occupied through the Chicanel phase. It declined around 2300 bp.
