A New Zealand archaeologists known for his "The Moa-hunter Period of Maori Culture" (1950) and for being a pioneer of Polynesian archaeology. He worked at Wairau Bar classified Polynesian and Southeast Asian stone adzes and proved the Polynesian origin of the first inhabitants of New Zealand.
