A small number of Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement sites in northwest Rumania. Late Mesolithic, Early Neolithic Cris, and later Neolithic Linear Pottery sites have been found. The chipped stone assemblages are distinguished by a high percentage of obsidian, procured from the Tokaj Mountains some 180 km away in northeastern Hungary.
