A village site in northern Mashona-land, Zimbabwe, occupied briefly during a final phase of the local Early Iron Age in the 11th or 12th century ad. The presence of a single glass bead suggests that this period saw the beginning of contact with the coastal trade, which greatly developed during the succeeding later Iron Age.
