Philip IV's (Spain) surgeon who was entrusted with studying and reporting on objects found in the tomb of Childeric I (AD 481/482), Clovis's father, discovered at Tournai in 1653. Anastasis "Childerici I" printed in 1655 may be regarded as the earliest scientific archaeological publication.
