A mythological figure. A demigod of the Greeks and Romans, whose characteristics were a brutal, sensual face, the feet of a goat and a hairy body. His head was covered with unkempt hair, from underneath which horns sprouted. Statues and masks of satyrs were frequently used as a decoration.
