The mortuary temple of Ramesses II (1279-1213 BC), located on the west bank of the Nile at western Thebes, opposite modern Luxor. The temple is famous for its 57-foot seated statue of Ramesses II. The walls of the Ramesseum are decorated with reliefs, including scenes depicting the Battle of Kadesh, the Syrian wars, and the Festival of Min.
