A Nubian stone industry belonging to the period of high water levels in the Nile Valley prior to 9000 be. At this time the content of the various local stone tool assemblages shows considerable variation, and this has been plausibly interpreted as indicating not only the variety of specialized activities which were carried out, but also the differentiation of distinct population groups whose identity and territoriality were reinforced by competition for control of resources. This supposition is strengthened by the evidence for inter-group conflict at the Jcbel Sahaba cemetery. Qadan people evidently fished, hunted and consumed large quantities of wild grains.
