An Iron Age tribe of invaders from the River Seine who settled in Yorkshire, England, about 250 BC. They brought La Tène culture, a warrior aristocracy, the use of chariots, and weapons of war. They had poor pottery, indicating few women. Many prehistoric remains have been discovered in Yorkshire, the most prominent being the hillforts. The Romans found the region inhabited by the Brigantes and, in the eastern portion, by the Parisi. The Romans established control over the region in the 1st century AD.
