An island in Lake Lednika, Poland, with an important medieval site. The earliest 9th-century settlement was fortified with a rampart in the early 10th century. At the end of the 10th century, a grandiose citadel, one of the official residences of the Polish rulers, was built. The official secular and religious buildings inside the stronghold consisted of a stone-built palace with an inner courtyard. The wooden dwellings and workshops were concentrated outside.
