Culture of southern California deserts with characteristic Pinto points, a heavy often crudely made projectile point with triangular blade, narrow stem, and indented base. Artifacts also include plano-convex bifaces, scraper planes, choppers, hammerstones, and flat grinding slabs. Pinto was c 5000-2000 BC and the sometimes related Gypsum (in the Pinto/Gypsum Complex) c 1500 BC-600 AD.
